Thanks to Lake Country Power, the TSHS has received $1000. for the Electrical Improvement Project. This is a 2010 project which is 4-fold including the following:
1. Upgrade electrical service to the Museum and surrounding area.
2. Improve lighting in the museum.
3. Make each train car electrically independent.
4. Add electrical outlets in the grassy island between the Caboose and the Civic Center.
Fully funded, this endeavor will cost approximately $33,000. Last summer we teamed with the City of Tower to boost electrical support to the museum and area for Depot Days, a cost of $1000. The Tower Harbor Project is dependent on upgraded electrical service to the area as well. Our museum is dimly lit and requires special consideration for lighting in order to display and preserve donated antique items. We aspire to getting rid of the trail of extension cords that we currently use to electrify the train cars and figure that outlets in the island would give us the opportunity to use that ideal space for bands and entertainment during festivals.
We will continue to apply for any available funds, planning to make improvements as they can be afforded, starting with this next summer season. Inquiries and Donations welcome: TSHS PO box 465, Tower, MN 55790. Phone: 218-753-2301 or 218-753-6060.
